  • Measurements of Steady-State Current Flowing Through a Grounded User in Direct Contact with Pan on Domestic Induction Heating Cookers

抄録

Contact currents (CCs) flow through a human body when the human touches a metallic pan on an induction heating (IH) cooker. Little measurement data on such CCs has been reported although use of domestic IH cookers has been increasing in Japan. In the present paper, assuming that a human comes into solid electrical contact with the metallic part of a pan with one hand while the other hand (or both feet) are completely grounded, we measured CCs for a total of twenty-four heating hobs while alternating the size of the pan in some cases. Induced currents in the human body by electric and magnetic fields from the IH cookers are not considered. It is found that the CCs increase with the size of the pan, and that the maximum values of CCs range from 0.026 to 0.94 mA with a pan diameter of 28 cm, depending on the IH cooker. Finally, the CCs for all IH cookers investigated in the study do not exceed both the reference levels by the ICNIRP guidelines and the action levels by IEEE standard.
