Abstract

<p>In this study, nursing students took part in a class, in which they were asked to create life reviews of stroke patients with residual disabilities in order to deepen the students’ understanding of the disease and residual disabilities. In the lesson, life reviews took the form of cartoon to help them understand the patient’s story with rich expressions in an easily understandable manner. From the analyses of life reviews created by students, it became clear that students fully utilized their knowledge to explain stroke in a very easily comprehensible manner and were also capable of richly depicting the emotional changes before and after the onset, in addition to what have actually happened. As these aspects are hard to comprehend through ordinary demonstrations or practices, the result indicates the educational effect of this method.</p>
