Abstract

In order to broaden the range of application of nano-cellulose and nano-chitin i.e., their nanofibers and nanocrystals, we can take advantage of their original characteristics by establishing simple and reasonable processing methods. The author presents some of our current highlight data on the projects to fabricate biomedical materials via process developments including inkjet printing. The material concepts are (i) simple inkjet process to create microstructures of chitinous nanocrystals for cell patterning and (ii) utilizing cellulose nanofibers as a key module for designing paperbased microfluidic analytical devices (μPADs).
