Abstract

This paper will clarify the reality of radioactive countermeasures and future support policies for nuclear disaster areas. This study used Fukushima’s Date region, which has been observed to have a high level of radioactive contamination due to radioactive material, as its primary case region. First, the study outlines the general state of the case region and the trends in evacuation and export restrictions following the 2011 nuclear disaster. Second, it demonstrates the reality of decontamination activities and agricultural inspections conducted mainly by local entities and the cost of damage over the past two years to the agriculture of the region. Third, through the results of a questionnaire conducted by Date City that surveyed farmers, the study reveals the outlook of farmers in the region. Finally, it presents the issues related to countermeasures that have been conducted up until the present and provides future support policies.
