Abstract

Quantum computers are cooler than ever. Commercial funding is pouring into what has typically been the territory of the basic sciences. A Canadian venture, D-Wave Systems, has succeeded in the commercialization of quantum annealers. IT giants like Google, IBM, Intel, and Microsoft are in serious competition to realize quantum computers. This article reviews the current status and future prospects of universal digital quantum computer science and its developments.
