Abstract

<p>ナノフォトニクスを含めた先端技術の高度化に伴い,情報通信システムやデバイスには,単なる演算や通信機能を超え,「インテリジェンス」が期待されるようになった.しかし,現在の電子・光デバイスは従来の2値論理を基礎とした構造を踏襲しており,パラダイム転換を可能にする新たなアーキテクチャが待望されている.本稿では,光エネルギー移動,光の階層性,近接場光の運動量の多様性といった,局所環境での光と物質の相互作用に着目し,質的に新規な情報機能実現を指向した最近のいくつかの取り組みを解説する.</p>

<p>There is a great demand for novel intelligent systems and architectures that can overcome the limitations of conventional technologies based solely on an electron transfer or light propagation. A promising solution is nanophotonics, which utilizes light–matter interactions occurring at a scale below the wavelength of light. We believe that the unique attributes of nanophotonics can be utilized in achieving novel intelligent capabilities. We present three representative physical attributes in near-field optical processes, which are, energy transfer, hierarchical properties, and large momentum as well as their applications to decision making, nano artifact-metrics, volumetric displays, and unidirectional light propagation.</p>
