Abstract

Cellulose is the most common and abundant bioresource, mainly originating from higher plants. We have successfully extracted cellulose nanofibers with widths of 4-15 nm from wood pulp, and have developed cellulose nanofiber-based materials, such as a transparent nanopaper, especially for electronic applications. Here we introduce the fabrication processes of nanopapers and their characteristics of transparency, opacity, thermal durability, and other mechanical properties. Moreover, we introduce the recent achievements in flexible electronics based on nanopapers such as transparent paper electrodes, flexible paper antennas, paper transistors, and paper memory.
