Abstract
<p> Detachment of armor block on a landward slope due to tsunami overopping flow is one of the factors of failure of coastal levee. This detachment is caused by pressure drop on the top of levee. This phenomenon has been investigated in previous experimental researches, however, their investigations are not always adequate because it is difficult to measure due to violent flow. This paper proposes a 3D numerical model on the bases of a particle method that can provide a detaching simulation of armor block on a coastal levee caused by an ovetoppoing flow. In the proposed model, Higher order Laplacian scheme is modified, and this modification contributes to computational cost cut by 40~50%. The numerical result by the proposed model shows pressure drop and strong turbulence intensity on the top of levee and detaching process with rotation of block. These are in good agreement with a previous experimental result.</p>
