Abstract

This paper presents design of a microstrip antenna with a reconfigurable circular polarization function. The proposed antenna consists of a microstrip antenna element and two short-end microstrip lines attached to the corners of the microstrip antenna via a switching diode. The sense of the circular polarization can be switched by applying a switching voltage to the diodes. The concept and performance of the proposed antenna are numerically discussed. As the end of each microstrip line is short circuited to the ground, no additional bias networks are required, and simple configuration can be achieved.
