Abstract

Care is the action conducted between the subject (caregiver) and the object (care receiver). Care receivers require care because they cannot conduct various actions by themselves. In this sense, the care receivers can never become the subjects of care, but remain completely powerless existence. Because of this situation, the care receivers become the subject of concern, and try to affect others from the position of the subject to concern others. The relationship between caregiver and care receiver cannot be discussed with the premise of being the relationship between subjects who hold power. On the contrary, the care receivers affect on the subject of care, the lifeline of their life, and this situation develops the system of compensation and burden. In addition to that, because it is difficult to always maintain good relationship between the subject and the object of care mainly based on concern from the care receiver, both the “cool relationship” which is the care provided by the institution like social welfare, and the “warm relationship” which is the care provided by human relationship, are necessary. The issue on care and recognition is discussed in this multi-layered structure of “the system of compensation and burden” and “the system of cool relationship and warm relationship”. Together with the distribution problem of scars resource, it is unproductive to discuss pros and cons of self-decision making. Rather than that, we should discuss that recognition is used to compensate the insufficient resource distribution in the multi-layered structure of care.
