Abstract

中学生は,教師の思いほど数学の勉強に対して社会的重要性を認識していない。数学の社会的意義をより認識させることを目標に,「放射能と数学」と題し,身近な問題から指数関数の導入的な授業を3年生で実践した。事前・事後調査結果から次の4点が明らかになった。① 数学観の変容が見られた生徒がいた。②「いろいろな関数」として位置づけられる。③ 学力中位以上の公立中学生では基礎的な指数関数の導入が可能である。④ 2変量の抽出に課題がある。

Generally speaking, junior high school students in Japan don't valuemathematics so much for how it can help them in their lives, compared with othercountries. However their teachers value it. Educational experiment named"Radioactivity and Mathematics" was conducted not only to change their evaluationof mathematics value, but also to introduce the exponential function, relating to theFukushima nuclear accident. In the pretest and the posttest, we clarified thefollowing. (1) The students changed their evaluation of mathematics value for howit could help them in their lives. (2) The students could find and understand as afunction they had never learned. (3) Even in the public junior high school, it waspossible for the students to learn a fundamental exponential function, if they wereequal to surpass the average in scholastic ability. (4) It was not easy for thestudents to find two variables from the phenomenon in their lives.
