Abstract

Vocational education in undergraduate healthcare programs is inadequate, and students are not educated about work ethics and responsibility. After students graduate and enter the workforce, they are expected to learn new knowledge, skills, and ethics to fit the workplace. They begin to understand unfairness and injustice in society for the first time as they are working in their professional roles with patients in the community. They need to find meaning and purpose after graduating, and they face an expectation to develop ethical competence in the postgraduate training while performing their professional duties to others and society. It is essential to pursue professional ethics and critical thinking about the purpose and application of the attained medical knowledge and skills. Vocational education connects undergraduate learning to the workplace through postgraduate training, using interactions with other professionals and patients and contributions to society.
