<p>Main-chain liquid-crystalline elastomers composed of liquid-crystalline polyesters (BB-n) were investigated. BB-n polymers and/or elastomers were conventionally synthesized by melt transesterification with titanium alkoxide catalysts at high temperature above 200°C. In this study, we succeeded in synthesis of BB-n elastomers at room temperature, using UV photo-cross-linking procedure with a photo-cross-linker, p-phenylenediacrylate.</p>
