<p>Development of energy saving technology for liquid crystal displays (LCDs) is a high-profile theme for global environmental problems. In order to achieve the energy saving in LCDs, Improvement in light utilization efficiency of a backlight unit is most effective. From such a point of view, we have aimed to develop an absorption-type polarizer having a power generation function, in which an absorbed polarization component in the polarizer is reused for the function. In this study, we examine fabrication of an absorption-type polarizer film with power generation function using an organic semiconductor molecules combined with the molecular alignment technology. </p>
