<p>Mechanochromic luminophores (MCLs) exhibit isothermal change in its photoluminescent color in response to mechanical stimuli. In this work, we prepared rodlike liquid-crystalline MCL compound and controlled its initial molecular orientation by an alignment substrate. The molecular alignment before grinding strongly affected MCL behavior upon directional grinding. We succeeded in detection of rubbing start and end as well as rubbing direction by using normal aligned film.</p>
