Abstract

This study focuses on events held in Onden, Shibuya and Iida, Nagano that a university laboratory specializing in urban design supported while introducing intercity as well as industry-academia-public-private collaborations. The study found that events held through intercity collaboration is effective as initial implementation of long-term effort for regional promotion and problem solving, and suitable for social contribution activities implemented by a university laboratory. The study also found that it is necessary to establish a sustainable implementation system between a university and cities while paying attention to respective regional needs to lead to permanent improvements.
