Abstract

<p> Although the area has no human damage attacked by Yamagata earthquake tsunami on 11th June, 2019 in Japan, the affected area might be arrived in very short time from earthquake occurrence. In this paper, we have conducted questionnaire survey on residents Atsumi district, Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture and Sanpoku district, Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture where are the nearest of the tsunami source area to clarify tsunami evacuation behaviors. The results are as follows. 1) At the rate of resident evacuated in Atsumi district was 89.1%. 2) However, only 32.8% of Atsumi, 23.6% of Sanpoku started to evacuate before estimated tsunami arrival time. 3) Residents who have high risk awareness of tsunami occurrence knew experience and lessons of the 2011 Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami disaster as other area event.</p>
