- Study on shape and strength change of stereolithographic specimen under light irradiation

<p>Further ultraviolet exposure to specimens (UV curable resin) created by stereolithography method might change the shape and strength. We conducted an experiment to investigate the relationship between light irradiation time and the change of specimens. After measuring the dimensions of stereolithography specimens, light from a xenon arc lamp was illuminated on the specimens for 350 hours at 50 hours intervals. We carried out two types of light fastness tests, i.e., accelerated light resistance test and artificial solar lamp accelerated light resistance test. After irradiating light, the flatness of stereolithography specimens were measured and tensile tests were carried out. The specimens of accelerated light resistance test had larger shape change, maximum tensile stress and breaking stress than the specimens of artificial solar lamp accelerated light resistance test, but the breaking strain and tensile modulus were smaller. Regarding the relationship between shape change and stress, the specimens of accelerated light resistance test with larger shape change showed higher maximum tensile stress and breaking stress.</p>
