In this paper, I discuss the following points to improve engineering ethics education : 1) I argue that it is important for the objective of engineer ethics education to consider the issue of engineer ethics as“one’s own affair”. 2) I point out the difficulties that arise in actual classes to achieve this objective: low motivation for learning, teacher’s unfamiliarity with subject, and short hours of teaching. 3) In order to solve these difficulties and achieve the objective, I propose a class that incorporates students’ autonomous activities. Then the results of the class are analyzed.
