Abstract

The aim of this study is to show the effect of diversity in regions have significant influence on the population inflow rate only with opened statistics. We first point out the importance of three variables; variance of land lot size, mixed ratio of zoning, and density of narrow road, to show the diversity in regions that shows the concept of conditions for city diversity a-la J. Jacobs. Then we conduct a regression analysis to show the relation between these and the inflow rate between 2010 and 2015 for 869 mesh samples at Kobe city. The estimated result shows that the city diversity has significant impact of population inflow rate, with which some important implications are derived when considering necessary policies related to navigating population inflow.
