人文社会科学分野の碩学の研究者が持つ成果や資料は立派な文化遺産である。しかし、その保存にはこれまであまり有効な対策を成しえなかった。我々はこれまでの三年間余、タイ国東北部に焦点をあて、このような研究資料のデジタルアーカイブ作りを進めてきた。意義と効用について当事者らの理解が不充分なところから出発したが、地理情報システムの考え方をベースにしたアーカイブ作りを進めるに従って理解も増し、第一期三年間の最後には、活動の継続を周囲からも望まれるほどになった。現在第二期に入った我々の活動についての経験を紹介する。

The research products and materials of leading scholars in human and social studies form an important part of the cultural property of a society. Despite their importance, however, effective measures to preserve them are often not taken. For more than three years, we have been developing digital archives of such research materials in Northeast Thailand. At the beginning of our project, some members did not sufficiently understand the importance and efficiency of such archiving, but at the end of the three-year first phase, many of those around us expressed support for our activities. Here, we present our experiences of the project, which is now its second phase.
