Abstract
One example of the evaluation of Japanese cities from the viewpoint of a foreign country is “A natural hazard index for megacities” published by Munich Re Group, one of the world’s major reinsurance companies.<br>Among 50 large cities from around the world that were evaluated, Tokyo and Yokohama showed an exceptionally high score by the index. It is necessary to consider such a report as a warning regarding the safety measures in Japan, to behave responsibly as the world’s second leading economic power. However, it should be noted that the content of the evaluation is limited.
