This study focuses on the magnetocardiogram (MCG) measurement of ventricular fibrillation (VF) for an isolated canine heart under perfusion. We carried out the MCG measurement in a prefabricated magnetically shielded room, using a 5-channel rf-SQUID connected to second- order gradiometers with base lines of 3.5cm and coil diam- eters of 2.5 cm. In a study of VF induced by electric shock, a fast Fourier transform (FFT) was used to compare the frequency characteristics of MCG and ECG recordings under VF with normal MCG and ECG. It was found that frequencies of 3 to 7 Hz dominated in both MCG and ECG recordings. Distribution of the magnetic field during VF showed a complicated pattern. In some periods, however, there was a characteristic pattern, which can be predicted to be a clockwise and/or counterclockwise circular current with a fundamental period of 0.2 s.
