Abstract

<p>This paper verifies the effectiveness of Damage Assessment Training System which was designed for disaster responders in local government to contribute to expedite the work involved in building damage assessment for issuing the Victim Certificate. The training is conducted by repetitive judgment using both photographs of damaged buildings and damage pattern charts for assessment, which provide visual illustrations by schematics of building damage patterns. The system is made sure from the respects of time and accuracy. The applicability of the damage pattern charts and the effectiveness of training are also confirmed through the operations by non-expert of building structure.</p>
