<jats:title>S<jats:sc>ummary</jats:sc></jats:title><jats:p>A simple polarographic device is described which permits the measurement, in the gas‐phase, of O<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> evolved by leaf discs during photosynthesis and O<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> consumed in respiration. A method of calibration is described and results are included which illustrate the performance of the apparatus in typical experiments.</jats:p>
