抄録

The pulp response to a new adhesive restorative resin“Clearfil Bond System F” was histopathologically and clinically investigated by using adult dog teeth and human teeth, comparing with Adaptic Total System. Findings were as follows.<BR>1. When cavities were unetched and unlined, both pulp response and bacterial penetration along the cavity walls were greater with Adaptic than with Clearfil. The amount of the bacteria increased with time. The cell infiltration and the irritation dentin formation were more observed under the cavities with bacteria.<BR>2. When the cavities were lined, the pulp response decreased to both Adaptic and Clearfil.<BR>3. When totally etched cavities were filled with Clearfil, no bacteria penetrated and the pulp response was slight. The response was slightly greater than that under the lined cavities but less than that under the unetched and unlined cavities.<BR>4. When human tooth cavities, both lined and totally etched, were filled with Clearfil, all cases did not show any clinical symptom except one case with pulp exposure. No histological sign of inflammation was found under the lined cavities and slight inflammation under the totally etched cavities which diminished almost completely after 2 months, with exception of the case with pulp exposure.
