Abstract
Nagasaki normal school was founded in Meiji 7, and was abolished in Meiji 11. According to the library catalogue, Nagasaki normal school possessed about 50,000 volumes when it was closed, The collection of books were classified into the textbooks of the attached elementary school, the textbooks of the normal school, the reference books for students of normal school, and the foreign books for normal school. About 10,500 volumes were possessed as the textbook and teaching materials for attached elementary school. Since these books were sold or were lent out to children, there was many number of copies. As the textbook and teaching materials for normal school, 135 kinds of about 28,000 volumes were possessed. These books could also be lent out to the students. As the reference books for normal school, 900 or more kinds of about 10,000 volumes were possessed. The books of various fields were contained. About 700 volumes were possessed as the foreign books for normal school. Possibly the foreign books were used for teacher's research. Some of textbooks, reference books, and foreign books for normal school are existing in Nagasaki University attached library.
