抄録

Though car-sharing system (CS) has been successed in Europe and America, CS user in Japan does not yet reach a level to be profitable. This study introduced a case of implementation process for CS at University of Tsukuba, Japan mainly on latent demand prediction and promotion, and summarized lessons learned. In this case, Behavioral Intention Method (BI method) was used to predict a latent demand to use CS. The estimation results of the demand prediction was the same level of the number of users at the time of one and half years after start the CS service, it can be said that validity of BI method was inspected. Promotion project th rough physical education in the university was not successful, the reason of it seems to be that there are persons thinking “CS is not highly public transportation mode”. In the future, it will be necessary to measure the effects such as the environmental burden or change of car ownership rate in the long term.
