<p> In compact die casting systems with servo and hydraulic mechanism, local pressurization technology is applied to prevent internal shrinkage, instead of decreasing the injection pressure. Local pressurization die casting is effective for reducing the internal shrinkage, but excessive local pressure shortens die lifetime because it causes cracks in the die. Therefore, it is important to determine the optimum local pressurization conditions of the die casting machine. In this paper, in order to discuss the relationship between local pressurization conditions and the internal shrinkage, we attempted to distinguish the internal shrinkage from gas holes by sphericity in Micro X-ray CT (computerized tomography) images. In addition, minimum local pressure conditions from the difference between the solidification shrinkage volume and the local pressurization volume obtained by CAE is reported.</p>
