Abstract

Aim: This study analyzed the perception of educational support among novice home healthcare nurses with work experience at a medical institution, and who had been recently employed at home healthcare agencies to promote job retention.

Method: Using a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with nurses who had been employed for more than six months and less than three years in home healthcare agencies located in metropolitan areas. Data were analyzed using content analysis.

Results: The study included eight participants with an average of one and a half years of home healthcare experience. The analysis generated 6 categories, including "Gradually encourage independence in visits" and "Introduce preceptor system", as well as 18 subcategories.

Conclusion: Novice home healthcare nurses found single visits and the 24-hour emergency response system burdensome.
