Abstract
The LogMAR, the logarithm of the minimum visual angle, is becoming accepted as the standard unit for estimating visual acuity. Contrast sensitivity is also an important parameter in examining the quality of vision.
In this study, we investigated the usefulness of the multifunctional visual acuity chart (Vector-Vision, CSV-1000) which measures the visual acuity in LogMAR units as well as contrast sensitivity.
The results show that the LogMAR chart and the contrast sensitivity measuring apparatus provide very similar measurement to the conventional decimal measurement for visual acuity and contrast sensitivity. But the CSV-1000 gives a more continuous measurement because both the LogMAR and contrast sensitivity values are more continuous.
We think that the chart is a useful tool in daily clinical practice, because it requires only a small space and the examination is easy to perform.
