The book looks at agricultural developments in the Middle East, and examines the recent history of land and water use in agriculture in the region in a way that helps create a deeper understanding of the history of, modern background to, and difficulties affecting so vital a sector. An international group of contributors has been assembled, whose accounts of developments in the ten countries treated in detail support the more general accounts of the economic, physical and human resources related to agricultural development. The authors are drawn from the Middle East, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and West Germany, each representing differing points of view, which broaden and enhance the anlyses contained in the book.
