Description
Out in the Open gives a detailed account of aims, content and strategy, defining the English curriculum for the 11-16 age range. It presents a practical and theoretically sound scheme of assessment, together with a proposal for a Record of Achievement to serve as qualification for sixteen-year-olds. The author builds on work in many different fields: psychological, linguistic, philosophical and sociological. The book is grounded in principles that informed the Plowden Report and that are now causing much innovation in Further Education.
