Description

More than microcomputers and genetic engineering, the truly important innovation, say the authors, is one that changes the basis of competition and disrupts established production competence, marketing and distribution systems, organizational structures, and the training and skills of both managers and workers. Case studies illustrate the authors' contention that high-tech industry is the nation's "new tool maker" and convincingly challenge the widespread conviction that high-tech is the cause of a general "de-skilling" of the U.S. work force. The Innovators will be of value to those interested in business, management, economics, and public policy, as well as to government officials and labor leaders.
