Description
This book examines theories of family behaviour and describes the authors' work which was based on a fresh approach to family research, that of participant observation of family life. The research involved living in the family home for extended periods, to observe family interaction. The authors offer a critique of general system theory and its applications in research and clinical contexts. Their account of the ecological approach to the study of family interaction, and the insight this gives on family life, will particularly commend this book to researchers and practitioners in clinical and social psychology, social anthropology and psychiatry, family therapy, and social work.
