This volume of new work by leading fluvial geomorphologists, geologists and hydrologists has four related themes: the spatial and temporal environmental controls of river morphology; the sedimentological control of channel form and process; development pressures and river management problems in relating sediment transport and river morphology; the nature of applied fluvial geomorphology in contexts ranging from the conservation of aquatic ecology to the engineering control of river processes.
