A collection of writings to, from, and about Nietzsche, this is an abridged translation of a book that has seen two editions in its 900-page German edition. It contains 87 of the original 358 items, the most informative and little known material from the German-language collection, presenting a new picture of Nietzsche and the origins of the Nietzsche cult. Scholars have hitherto been restricted to Nietzsche's correspondence for source information. This selection balances documents concerning Nietzsche's personal life with others on his intellectual development. The volume includes a descriptive table of contents and index. Students and teachers of German literature and history, and of humanities and philosophy.
