内容説明
It was a milestone in the development of the young science of crystallography when in 1934 A.L.Patterson's first paper on the |F| 2 series appeared. The "Patterson Function" has opened entirely new avenues to the solution of crystal structures and continues to be a widely used tool. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Patterson's discovery, a Symposium, "Patterson and Pattersons. Fifty Years of the Patterson Function" was held on 13-15 November, 1984 at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The title of the symposium and its proceedings portrays the spirit of the meeting. In addition to the lectures and contributions which deal with the theory and the applications of the "Patterson Function", as well as other modern aspects of crystallography, the volume contains many personal reminiscences of Lindo Patterson by his widow and by contemporaries and friends.
