内容説明

Jaynes traces the transition of the black work force from the slave economy of the antebellum South to the wage-earning economy of the post-Emancipation period. He stresses the failure of Reconstruction politics to give the black freedmen a viable economic base and indicates how Southern planters and black workers eventually made economic accommodations through the sharecropping system.
