内容説明
The author argues that lexicase is preferable to other grammatical frameworks on several counts: it is constrained enough to have empirical content, simple and explicit enough to be tested, and through its application in describing many languages, has a plausible claim to universality. The formal properties of lexicase theory and its historical and metatheoretical relations to other current frameworks are described. Also covered are the writing of a formal lexicase grammar and the insights that can be obtained by confronting a set of data from a natural language with the rigours of the lexicase descriptive framework.
