Description and Table of Contents

Description

Research from many disciplines is brought together in this edited volume to integrate current knowledge of the control of appetite. The ten chapters include a discussion of central and peripheral neurotransmitters and how they are related to appetite control, animal models of appetitive behaviour (and the interaction of nutritional factors and drug seeking behaviour), and clinical situations in which appetite control is altered (including pregnancy and lactation, cancer, anorexia nervosa, and bulimia). Also covered are the pharmacological modification of appetite, the satiating effect of cholecystokinin, and psychological factors in the control of appetite.
