内容説明

Atomic nuclei consist in general of large numbers of nucleons (protons and neutrons), a fact which leads to very complex problems in describing these nuclei accurately. This book presents many applications of the use of matrix ensembles in the fields of nuclear structure and nuclear reactions. The basic techniques of calculating density distributions are given in detail, and recent developments in the use of anticommuting Grassmann variables in calculating average cross-sections are described. Other special features include examples of calculations of many physical properties of interest, the development of statistical models for tackling the configuration interaction problem, and a detailed account of the volume element in the space of complex orthogonal matrices. It is aimed at researchers in nuclear physics, particle physics, condensed matter physics; graduate students.
