Description and Table of Contents

Description

An explanation of how to search commercial online databases is given by this book, which also discusses the closely related issue of database development. A descriptive analysis of online interaction dynamics is provided together with a prescriptive strategy to maximize the user's efforts online. The text defines the distinction between searching for specific items, which is easy, and searching for information on a topic, which is more difficult. The two primary forms of automated bibliographic retrieval systems in place today are covered, along with the online database vendors and their systems and services, searching strategies, database selection, user-friendly systems, and database development.
