It deals with those heterocycles containing 4 chalcogen ring-heteroatoms (Heterocyclic Class: 4 O) not covered in the preceding subvolume and in addition all other chalcogen heterocycles containing 5 or more ring-heteroatoms. These include, of course, the crown ethers, the topic which formed the focal point for 1987's Nobel Prize in chemistry. Indeed, since a lot of work was carried out in this subject during the 1960's and 70's, much of Subvolume 19/12 is devoted to it.
