This volume describes the sources and methods used to produce base estimates and projections of the economically active population by sex and age group in countries with a population of at least 300,000 persons in 1980. The book also describes how national data are adjusted for comparability, how imputations are made when data are not available and how different models are formulated for projecting the activity rates.
