Description
A model of thoroughness in compilation, analysis, and cross-reference, this annotated bibliography was compiled by a medical librarian and a library science faculty member. About 1,200 government publications and 100 databases from some 90 federal agencies, institutes, and information centers are described. . . . Written for the researcher, this is an excellent quick reference for depository libraries and a useful selection tool for libraries that seek it. Choice
No other publication brings together such detailed information on government publications in the medical and health sciences field. The authors have cut a pathway through the maze of government publications. Medical Reference Services Quarterly
This book annotates about 1200 government publications and 100 databases from some 90 federal agencies, institutes, and information centers. Material included ranges from selection tools and finding aids to indexes, bibliographies, serials, reports, directories, handbooks, series, statistics, databases, federal laws and regulations, and relevant commercial looseleaf services. The majority of items included are Government Printing Office (GPO) depository titles, although important National Technical Information Service (NTIS) titles are also covered, as well as selected documents available only directly from federal agencies. Designed to provide enough background in each subject covered to enable the user to easily move onto the next step of research, this volume is divided into chapters that correspond to major medical and health-related disciplines. Each entry includes information about document availability, corporate authorship, and publication date, along with annotations. An appendix provides addresses of the federal agencies, institutes, and clearinghouses, database vendors, and looseleaf publishers providing federal medical and health-related information. An index of publication titles, database names, subjects and federal agencies completes this valuable new resource.
