内容説明

The principal focus of this book is on the effects of the 1986 oil price collapse on the oil industry and on the world economy, and the responses that this third oil crisis elicited from the governments of both oil-producing and oil-consuming nations. The development of OPEC's policies throughout 1985-6 is considered in detail by several contributors, and the attitudes of such major non-OPEC producers as Norway and the Soviet Union are also addressed individually. The implications of the price fall for the future of the Arab world as a whole are considered, including its effects on non-oil-producing Arab countries. Other articles examine the implications of the oil price fall for the development of other primary sources of energy - natural gas and nuclear power. The papers in the book were presented at the Eighth Oxford Energy Seminar in September 1986, and include contributions from a wide range of recognized specialists from a variety of academic, industrial, and government backgrounds.
