"Planning and Politics" gives the reader an accurate picture of what it is like to be involved in a major planning study on a day-to-day basis. It provides tentative guidelines for the professional or student planner and clarifies the planner's position in an increasingly politicized world. Unlike many transportation studies, this book's detailed, comprehensive, and objective observations provide a solid foundation of facts for formulating theory.Stressing the interaction of technical work with the political process, Juri Pill draws the conclusion in this study that "planners must learn politics to be effective."
