内容説明
In the global political economy, the Pacific region has assumed much prominence due particularly to the belief that further vigorous development will tend to help recovery from the general world recession. This volume examines private sector opportunities and the options of governments in the market economy states of East Asia and North America, with Australia and New Zealand. Amongst the issues considered are the tensions produced by the divergence between the interventionist East Asian and the liberal American policy orientations, and the author covers the ways in which the European Community can assist in the development of a Pacific Community. Such assistance, it is argued, is necessary to promote regional market integration and industrial co-operation, and a more collective leadership of the international economy.
