内容説明

This is a guide to the role of oncogenes in malignancy. The physician involved in the treatment of cancer should find enlightenment in the presentation of all the important molecular processes, while the scientist can become aware of the clinical relevance of his findings. The first two chapters provide background science by describing the theories of function oncogenes and of their products. Chapters 3 to 10 look at the molecular basis of specific matters of clinical concern: these include the human immunodeficiency virus and malignancy, viruses and cervical neoplasia, and steroid receptors and gene regulation.

目次

  • Oncogenes and cancer
  • Oncoproteins and their function in the transformed cell
  • The C- erb w2 gene and its expression in human tumours
  • Bombesin and its receptor
  • Human retroviruses and malignancy
  • Radiolabelled monoclonal antibodies in the management of cancer
  • Viruses and cervical neoplasia
  • Steroid hormone receptor structure and function
